Milestone by Mottahedeh Avian
The Avian china pattern was adapted from an example of the 19th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper at Dean Hall plantation, c. 1752, near Charleston. Featuring white egrets, waterfowl, pheasants and gamecocks, the pattern evokes the natural habitat and sporting traditions of the Carolina Lowcountry. The border depicts sweetgrass baskets, still made in the Carolina Lowcountry using traditional African methods of weaving reeds and grasses.
